DECLARATION OF MANDATORY WATER RESTRICTIONS
FOR THE CITY OF RAEFORD
EFFECTIVE OCTOBER 26th, 2007

Due to continuing drought conditions and demand on the city’s wells, the City Manager has issued a water shortage alert and declaration of mandatory water restrictions. Under the city’s Water Shortage Response Plan, the city desires to achieve a 20% water use reduction goal and encourages all water users to reduce consumption. The following restrictions are in place:

1.  irrigation shall be limited to the hours of 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m.;
2.  for customers whose address numbers end in an even digit, such watering shall be restricted to watering on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday;
3.  for customers whose address numbers end in an odd digit, such watering shall be restricted to watering on Wednesday, Friday, or Sunday;
4.  no irrigation shall take place on Monday or in the daylight hours of any day between 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m.;
5.  exceptions to these restrictions may be granted temporarily to persons engaged in the business of landscaping on a site by site basis for one to three days, by permit issued by the City Manager.

The City of Raeford will monitor compliance with these water use restrictions and may increase restrictions as necessary. The city will impose the following civil penalties:

      First offense:   $50 fine
      Second offense:   $100 fine
      Third and succeeding offenses:   $250 fine
